107 Celtics, 102 Heat

Last night was a perfect game, other than the fact the C’s didn’t have their captain. Everyone played well and did what they were supposed to do. Rajon was awesome, he was the best player on the court last night for the Celtics. He finished with 22 points, 14 assists and 6 boards. He will need to have more of these games barring if the Celtics go a long time without Pierce. Ray had 23, Perk had 13 and KG had 14 and Eddie had 16 off the bench. It was a great team game but the play of the game was when the Celtics led the Heat 97-94 with :40 seconds left in the game when Tony Allen fought through a pick and stripped a driving Dwyane Wade. Tony picked up the loose ball, got fouled and made both free throws.

I know Miami is only a .500 team, but if the C’s can maintain this. The rumblings will go down significantly.

Paul Pierce Day To Day With Foot Strain

Thank god!
The Truth on have a strained foot and is considered day to day.

If Paul Pierce had broken his foot which we the grumblings earlier on in the day this post would have been a lot more frantic and sweary. However, the Truth is only going to be out a couple of games and probably be back on the weekend. If he was going to be out for an extended period of time, I was going to say to pack it in, forget about trading anyone at the deadline and lets just let our expiring contract expire. However, the Celtis will be fine, let’s take our finger off the panic button and just get healthy for after the All Star break.

Celtics Being Selfish

“We are getting bored with it some,” he said, “but I think it’s a little bit of different agendas maybe creeping in. It just all depends. You know, I think if we all had the right spirit as far as one goal, one thing in common, I think we’d be a lot better.”

“I can’t really elaborate on it too much, but I think we’ve just got to be a team with no agendas,” Rondo said. “We’ve got to play unselfish, you know? That’s on defense and offense. You’ve got to want the best for the next man out there regardless if you’re in the game playing well or you’re out of the game not playing well.”

“In the locker room, you can feel it,” Rondo added. “You don’t feel like it’s the same continuity and camaraderie in the locker room as it was the first year. The first year, it was a crazy spirit in the locker room. But now it doesn’t feel the same. It’s not the same right now. We’ve got to find a way to get that back somehow, some way.” From The Globe

To be honest this scares me more than the injuries, the 2nd half struggles, ect.. I rally hope this isn’t a big problem as the season persists. Honestly, this could all be under frustration for how the season has gone so far. This definitely scares me, but hopefully this Rondo quote will indirectly help them see the light. If not, the Celtics will not win the Championship.

99 Celtics, 88 Wizards

The score was actually a lot closer than the end result, but a win is a win. The Celtics won tonight and it didn’t look all to pretty, either. I’m not happy about this game but there were a couple of positives. First Rondo, the man is amazing, he is starting to be extremely consistent and once again finished with a double double with 17 points, 12 assists. Ray Allen had a better game with 17 points on 6-13 shooting, KG was on fire only missing one shot and finishing with 19 points, and Tony Allen continues to impress with 10 points, 6 boards and 4 assists. Secondly, the Celtics showed second half resiliency by coming back from a 8 point deficit at halftime. But again, it’s the wizards.

Paul Pierce also got injured on the play pictured above, it looked a lot more gruesome than it actually was. He came back into the game after, but sat out a majority of the 4th quarter.

I guess I thought the Celtics were going to come in pumped and absolutely demolish the Wizards, but I guess I’l take the W.

I love you Celtics, But I got to do this

What the fuck?

The last fucking three games have been a fucking embarrassment. I was willing to give the Atlanta and Orlando games a pass if you beat the Lakers, however, you went ahead and fucked that one up. In all three games there have been some common trends, the lack of killer instinct and just pissing away the game at the end. When we won it, it was because our defense would stifle teams in the third quarter and we would cruise to victory. Now we just don’t play defense in the second half and limp our way to the end of the game. I guess I’ll start with the blame game.

Doc Rivers has been a terrible coach this year. Sure he has had injuries to deal with, but he plays this very safe offense and loses all the aggressiveness the Celtics had during the game. He basically has Rondo wait until there are 7 seconds on the shot clock and then begins the play. That normally results in a turnover, or a rushed field goal attempt.

The Big Three are too unselfish. Someone needs to shoot the ball 35 times a game again, and I’m looking at you Truth. Kobe Bryant told Phil Jackson he wants the damn ball for the last shot. You should be saying that also. I want Paul Pierce to shoot the ball in every clutch situation and never pass it up, like NEVER. I don’t want Rasheed to take a last second three, and I want Ray to only shoot in emergency situations. Paul Pierce is one of the most clutch players of our generation and he had a chance to prove that against his hometown Lakers, but he passed the ball up to Ray and we all know what happened. I can’t say much about Ray other than his skills are just declining and if he is to resign here, he may have to be a 6th man. And KG, I don’t know what to say about him either, other than he lacks that fire he once had and it’s pretty obvious.

I’m fine with everyone else on the roster and their roles. Everyone else is pretty much doing what they are supposed to do.

This Celtics team will not win the Championship by playing like this. No way, no how. I don’t know if they need the all star game to recharge or what, but if this is a continued trend, we aren’t making out of the second round.

Now start fucking playing.

90 Lakers, 89 Celtics

The Celtics have now lost 3 in a row, and are 3-7 in their last 10 games. That should never happen when you have 3 guys bound for the Hall of Fame starting for your team. Boston did what they have been doing over the past month. Play great in the 1st half, then find a way to blow it in the 2nd half. Is it age? Bad coaching? Lack of depth? I don’t know, but this ship is sinking fast.

Kobe Bryant sank the go-ahead basket with 7.3 seconds left, and the Lakers won 90-89 on Sunday for their third consecutive victory over the struggling Celtics. Ray Allen had a chance to win the game, but his shot missed and the Celtics are going to have to hear it from the Celtics faithful.

Lets start with the positives. Rondo had a hell of a game, and this guy really might be an MVP candidate in a year or two. Rondo had 21 points, 12 assists, and 5 boards. He dominated the game, had key steals, and tried to motivate this team. It was a wasted effort. Tony Allen had one of his better games I have ever seen scoring 14 points and holding Kobe to just 19 points.

That’s it for the positives. Ray Allen was 2-10, Pierce made a blatant push off near the end of the game that really gave the Lakers the chance to win. Wallace only had 3 points, and once again refused to play anywhere near the basket, which could have helped as Boston was outscored 18-0 in the paint in the 4th quarter.

Listen I love most of this team. I love Doc, but at some point something has to change. I don’t know if they need a trade, a new coach, or just a swift kick in the ass, but the Celtics can’t be banking their season on Daniels coming back and sparking this team. There is still a good amount of time left before the playoffs, but this team needs to find themselves, and find themselves quickly.

96 Celtics, 94 Magic

The Celtics fucking blew this one.  At one point of this game the Magic were down 15 points and it looked as if it were going to be a blowout, then Rashard Lewis started hitting shots and the Celtics didn’t.  Then on the last play, the Celtics put KG on Rashard and Rashard beat him on a baseline dribble penetration move and Rasheed was late getting over to help and Lewis hit an easy la up and that was the game.  This was a pitiful, pathetic, and downright ugly game.  Thinking about it makes me want to puke.  They all sucked.  Rasheed sucked, KG sucked, Pierce sucked, Perk sucked, Rondo sucked, an the bench sucked.  The only one who was doing anything was Ray Allen who had 20 points and he sucked in the second half.

On a road trip this stretch of games they embarked on last night, this was the last thing they needed.  They can’t pull this shit against Atlanta or LA or there will be long nights.  Hopefully Doc Rivers started throwing things around Pete Bell Style.

Ray Allen Is Pretty Awesome

Have you ever known me to worry about being in the game or playing less minutes?” he asked the The Boston Globe. “Like never. I’ve always said I would love to see Tony Allen play more. I would love to see Marquis Daniels in there playing more minutes. It means a great deal to this team because (if they do) we do get better.”It would spare me a great deal. But the one thing I can say is that I’m in great shape. I never really feel winded when I’m on the floor.”

Isn’t that an awesome quote?  Ray Allen is pretty awesome for a teammate and this quote solidifies that he is so great.  Like I said yesterday, if the opportunity knocked and there was a guy like Monta Ellis or Amare Stoudimire on the line I would jump in a second, but I really want Ray to finish his career in Boston.  Ray sad he would take a significant pay cut after his contract is up, and when he does the Celtics will have a lot of money.  Figuring Tony Allen, Eddie House, Brian Scalabrine, Ray Allen, and I think Marquis is off the books too, the Celtics have a lot of money to play with.  I think its roughly 11 mill if you take every player not named Ray Allen off the books, and then you would think Ray will get paid 5-7 million to stay here so in all we have about 20 million off the cap next year.  That could definitely sign some real good player or some second tier players.  The Celtics will be able to solidify they’re future this offseason.  (Think Rudy Gay)

Hot Rumor

monta

There is a hot rumor that Golden State would be willing to trade Monta Ellis to the Celtics for Ray Allen.

The reason why Golden State would do this is because they think Ellis isn’t letting rookie Stephen Curry is progressing at the rate he should be.  The Warriors would have to throw in someone else to match Allens salary as well.

I love Ray.  I do.  However, if this has any truth to it, I would jump immediately.  Ellis is a prolific scorer, extremely quick and an above average defender.  Basically he can do everything better on the court than Ray Allen than shoot 3s on the court.  I mean imagine Rajon and Monta in the back court, no one would be able to keep up with them.  Yes, you could argue that this could create some chemistry issues, but who cares when you have Kevin Garnett and Doc to calm everyone down.

95 Celtics, 89 Clippers

celt

The floor was wet, the win was ugly, but… a win is a win. Led by Rajon and Paul Pierce the Celtics

were able to beat the undermanned Clippers who were without Eric Gordan. Paul Pierce scored 22 points and Rajon Rondo had 16 points and 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 4 steals and most importantly he had Baron Davis have a relatively quiet game with 16 points and 7 assists. The Celtics also had a good 3rd quarter which has been a make or break time for them. They finished with 21 points and held the Clippers to 15. Rondo’s intensity was the key here, he stayed aggressive and got the Celtics open looks.

It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.

The game was almost called due to the wet floor. Dunleavy and Doc both agreed if one more player slipped they would have called it.
